What time does the US stock market open?
If you want to invest in US stocks from the UK, you need to know the opening and closing times of the different US stock exchanges. Here’s everything you need to know about when the US stock market is open on UK time.

Opening and closing times of US stock exchanges
The two main stock exchanges for the US stock market are the New York Stock Exchange and the NASDAQ. These exchanges keep the same opening and closing times – on UK time, that’s between 2.30pm and 9.00pm.
The NYSE and NASDAQ also don’t stop for lunch – so there’s six and a half hours of uninterrupted buying and selling throughout the day. With Moneybox, we trade stocks daily at 2.30pm, with orders being locked in at 12:00pm that same day. If you submit an order after 12:00pm, it’ll be processed the next working day.
| Exchange | Standard opening hours (UK time) |
|---|---|
| New York Stock Exchange | 2.30pm – 9.00pm Monday to Friday |
